Submit...such a tough word for anybody. But, in particular when a woman hears a man say submit the Susan B. Anthony / Gloria Steinem / woman hear me roar voices set in and we are offended. Even as Bible reading, Bible thumping women we scoff at the idea that a man, so be it ours, deserves our submission. Truly, it's very difficult to obey in this area. Often it's not about the man himself, but about the values of our generation interfering with biblical concepts.
I recently came to the revelation that wives' submission to our husbands is really submission to God. No, I did NOT say your husband is God. What I mean is that when the Bible speaks to us with wisdom, we can respond in faithful obedience knowing God is watching and caring about our marriage. As a citizen in God's kingdom we are obligated to submit to our husbands on the condition that they love us unconditionally, which is also scriptural. When both spouses participate in God's kingdom design there is a peace you share that is most enjoyable.
